Mining her unconscious for shapes and colors, Gali transmits enigmatic patterns and biomorphic forms onto the canvas. Her compositions evoke those of the early abstractionist Hilma af Klint, and for good reason. Like Klint, Gali employs automatic painting as a means of aesthetic and spiritual transcendence. The artist regards herself as a vessel through which her work is realized, and surrenders to her process’s transformative powers.
