The combined installation can be seen as an indirect allegorical narration of the mind as it shifts from one state to another. This metamorphosis develops in three stages: firstly, by entering the labyrinth of the mind and the abstract world of meanings, leading to the embodiment of stillness and the bondage of the soul to the body, and finally lands in a transfiguration rooted in topological and ambivalent synthesis. Allegorical States is an Oedipus lcal narration of Sadjad’s mind through the world of abstract notions and ideas, in an effort to create and embody a whole corpus of work that is allegorically manifests itself through these three stages.
Sadjad’s artistic practice relies on the interconnection of elements and symbols arising from the unity of different cultures and traditions. What Sadjadi achieves through this is the potential to create a possible paradigm of cultural flows of human migration and, ultimately, an expression of the constant movement of thoughts in the places and times of great ancient civilizations. The juxtaposition of these elements in a specific format decontextualizes them from their eminence to acquire new pictorial identities.
Navid Azimi Sadjadi was born in Tehran, Iran 1982. He gained a bachelor of art in painting from Tehran Art and Architecture University in 2005. The same year he moved to Rome. In Italy he has graduated from Accademia di Belli Arti di Roma, in 2009. He was awarded the Amedeo Modigliani Foundation prize in year 2009. He gained his Master of Fine Art in Multi Media Sculpture in year 2013 from Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, and in the same year He has been invited to the 9th Shanghai Biennale. In 2018 he was the winner of Premio Combat Museo G.Fattori 9th Edition in the drawing and graphic field.
